In CSI "Artage" with the support of the Literary and Art Museum of the book by A.P. Chekhov "Sakhalin Island" will be a personal exhibition of the museum resident, Sakhalin artist Sergey Sosnovtsev (Pines) "The incredible superiority of yellow."

< style="text-align:justify;"The author, inspired by the work of Niko Pirosmani, Otto Dix, Ivan Shila, began his career in 1990. He participated in several collective and one personal exhibition. Sergey positions himself as a self-taught and representative of primitivism in art.

Sergei’s paintings are narrative. The author likes to tell stories in which the truth of reality is immediately transformed into some allegorical pictures, puzzle pictures. In his painting, the plot is very important, even when this plot is laid in the ironic “copying” of masterpieces of world art. Sometimes it is a kind of “journey” of the artist in the direction of impressionism, abstractionism, expressionism, Dada, etc., and sometimes a dialogue with them, which at the same time becomes a game with the viewer: guess what famous paintings the author encrypted in his visual charades. Even the name of the exhibition provokes the visitor to the exhibition to search for analogies and meanings.

The nature of narrative in the works of Sergei Sosnovtsev brings the artist’s style closer to absurdism, which asserts and explores the meaninglessness of human existence, creating images intentionally illogical, paradoxical, combined together in a way unexpected for the viewer. At the same time, the use of absurdist techniques in Sergei’s paintings exposes very important, sometimes obvious, and sometimes completely unexpected meanings.
