Exhibition "Winners"
The exhibition of Alexander Gunzenov "Winners" is a tribute to the soldiers who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, projects and exhibitions dedicated to the glorious date are organized in each city of Russia.
The theme of the feat and heroism, the tragedy of war and loss associated with it, excite Alexander Gunzenov. A series of paintings and graphic works of the artist is distinguished by a special mood associated with the history of the family. Alexander's father volunteered for the front at the age of 17. He fought in Europe and ended the war in the Far East. High awards were marked by the feat of a soldier who fought and built a further peaceful life.
Alexander Gunzenov took the experience of his father not only as a personal history and family history, as evidenced by the work "Grandfather's Medal", where his son is already trying on the award of his grandfather, but also as a general experience of the people who survived and survived in terrible trials. A series of portraits of veterans expands the image of a warrior. The portrait genre is loved by the artist, in it Alexander works in painting and graphics. Regardless of the material to which he resorts, his portraits are distinguished by special psychologism, expressiveness of the image, captured by the character of the model. The works “Winners”, “Going to immortality” and others are filled with symbolic sound. The dead, whose silhouettes are made in a monochrome scale, are next to the living. It creates a kind of Immortal Regiment effect.
The exhibition includes a work that sounds like a requiem. “Crane and Baby” is a call to say “No!” to all wars for all time, because war is always death and tragedy, the echoes of which last for a long time
