The project is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the painter’s birth and is implemented as part of the Year of the Family. Within five months, residents and guests of Primorsky Krai will get acquainted with the work of an outstanding Russian author. In the halls of the Gallery there will be one hundred and twenty-five objects: paintings, graphics, digital images of original manuscripts, letters and photographs of the master. The exposition of Vasily Dmitrievich’s dioramas, made in the old “Dagger” style, will be complemented. Especially for the Primorsky Art Gallery, a 3D projection of a series of works was created, including works on the artist’s Gospel theme, exhibited at the exhibition “Vasily Polenov”. The family of artists. The exhibition allows you to trace the entire creative path of the author. The visitor will see early works, the Palestinian and Egyptian series, paintings on Gospel stories, as well as landscapes, portraits, historical and plot compositions. In one of the halls will be placed artistic works of the mother – Maria Alekseevna, two sisters – Vera Dmitrievna and Elena Dmitrievna. A special place in the exposition is given to the leading work of Vasily Polenov “Christ and the Sinner” from the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. The canvas is the author's repetition of a large-format painting, which is stored in the Russian Museum. The plot is based on the gospel myth of a sinner saved by Christ from an angry crowd, which he stopped with the words: “Whoever is without sin, first throw a stone at her.”.
