Free excursions to the 140th anniversary of the Amur Region Research Society

April 2024 marks the 140th anniversary of the first scientific and educational organization in the Far East of Russia - the Society for the Study of the Amur Region.

Founded in 1884 as an independent organization, in 1894 the OIAC became part of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society and in our time, preserving its historical identity, is called the Primorsky regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society - the Society for the Study of the Amur Region. On April 18, 1884, the Charter of the Society for the Study of the Amur Territory was approved and on this date, the guides of the Section of Local History and Tourist Studies of the Society with the support of the Tourist Information Center of the Primorsky Territory (Visit Primorye) organize a series of free excursions for residents and guests of the city of Vladivostok and Primorsky Krai. 1. Excursion «The First Scientific and Educational Society of Primorsky Krai». Excursor: Ilyashenko Elena Sergeevna. The tour is dedicated to the first educational organization of the post of Vladivostok, the first street of the city, the first museum and all that on the street of Per the Great is associated with the Society for the Study of the Amur Territory! Excursion "From a small museum to the Bolshoi". Excursion: Nikolaevskaya Julia Vladimirovna.  The tour will feature a story about the history of the formation of the Society for the Study of the Amur Territory and the main museum of the city. Also the story will be about such famous personalities as A.P. Chekhov, V.K. Arseniev, N.M. Przhevalsky and others. 

3. Excursion "Time forward or Enlightenment and Pionery." Excursion Guide: Zinina Natalia Lavrentievna.  A walking tour about the brothers’ apartment house, the history of their family, business, philanthropism, about the architect-engineer Ivan Meshkov. Excursion "The Eastern journey of Tsesarevich." Excursion guide Valkov Antonina Mikhailovna.  We will talk about how Nikolai Alexandrovich spent an unforgettable 10 days in Vladivostok on this excursion. Find out where he was, with whom he met, what significance his arrival had on our city and the region as a whole. Excursion "Chelyuskinites and the first Heroes of the Soviet Union in Vladivostok." -Excursor Sirenko Nadezhda Alexandrovna. 90 years have passed since the rescue of the crew, covered with ice in the Chukchi Sea by the steamer Chelyuskin. Seven pilots removed the entire crew and became the first Heroes of the Soviet Union. In Vladivostok began their road of flowers. On the tour you can visit the places where the first Heroes and Chelyuskinites visited.

6. Excursion Eleanor Lord Pray: A Journey into Life. Excursion Guide Timchuk Marina Mikhailovna. Vladivostok is a multinational city, it was mastered not only by Russians, but also by foreigners. An interesting American came on a wedding trip, but she lived here for 30 years and left many wonderful photos of the city, letters and became the first blogger of Vladivostok. Time: 16:00-17:30.

2. Excursion "Big secrets of a small street." - Excursion guide Valkov Antonina Mikhailovna. This street in Vladivostok is one of the shortest, only 313 meters, but during the period of its existence it has changed three names and keeps many stories. We will find out where the revolutionaries S. Lazo, A. Lutsky, V. Sibirtsev were arrested, we will try to figure out where the truth is and where the lie is. Let us find out what connection this street has with Isayev-Stirlitz and David Burliuk and where the Alexander classes were located, from which we began our maritime education. Excursion "Along the Ship Embankment." Excursion Guide Volkov Lyudmila Nikolaevna.  The tour will touch on events, facts and personalities associated with the first historical embankment of the city, and will also be dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the Russian-Japanese War.
