Botanical Garden-Institute of FEB RAS is 75 years old

On February 24, exactly 75 years ago, by the Order of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of February 24, 1949, the Far Eastern branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR transferred a plot of 169 hectares with a well-preserved black fir and broad-leaved forest for the construction of a botanical garden. This date became the official birthday of the Botanical Garden! In the 50s, the Garden was not yet a scientific institute. Only in 1970, by the decree of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR of July 16, the Botanical Garden was granted the status of an independent academic scientific institution. In 1988, by the decision of the Presidium of the FEB of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the first Scientific Council of the Botanical Garden was approved, and in 1990, by the decree of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR from 13.02.1990, the Botanical Garden received the status of a research institute. As in the first years, today Botsad develops and transforms thanks to employees who give all their knowledge, love and care to plants, garden and science!
