Primorye is a multinational region. And here they respect the gastronomic traditions of any people. About the gastronomic diversity of Primorye tell schoolchildren of Vladivostok. And not only tell, but also teach children to cook a particular dish, which increases interest in local products, the profession of chef and travel to a particular region.
In school No67 for sixth graders held a lesson of acquaintance with the cuisine of the Caucasus, which is famous for its variety of tastes, flavors and traditions. But it was just a master class. The children were told about the traditions of the Caucasus, culture, history of dishes, family values. And during this lesson, the guys learned to cook khinkali. The process took over. Under the leadership of the chef of the restaurant “Tbilissimo” Alexander Grigorov, the guys diligently formed khinkali. Everyone wanted not just to do well, but to make everything consistent with tradition. After all, khinkali sculpt like a bag with folds, and there should be at least 18 of them. Of course, the young cooks had not yet risen to such a level of skill, but the zeal was skyrocketing. And curiosity was over the edge: the guys were interested in the difference between dough and minced khinkali from dumpling, can such dough be used for sculpting chebureks, etc. While the guys wrapped folds from the dough, in parallel, they managed to talk about the aesthetics of the dish and its proper presentation, because this is respect for the work of the cook and products. “The event is good, right. It is important that this is not just a master class where they cut, clean, cook. It's also communication. Dialogue on profession, respect for work, family dynasties, food culture, gastronomic features and traditions. I am glad that the dialogue is parity. The guys were not shy, they asked with great interest. You can see how children are open to something new. They are interested not only to learn something, but also to try to do it in an informal setting, they know that in case of failure they will definitely help, no one will shame and put twos. And there they will want to touch the culture of a particular country more closely and consciously, says Alexander Grigorov.
By the way, teachers are also interested in becoming participants in such "lessons", which differ in format from the usual school ones. This was agreed by the class teacher of six-graders Galina Zherdina. The teacher stressed that such lessons are a real ticket to the future. An important role is played by the openness of the cook to communicate with teenagers, a friendly atmosphere and interesting information. As a result, everyone was satisfied: the cook – an interested and diligent audience, the teacher – the behavior and activity of their wards, the guys – their “works”, which they not only made, but also ate. We add that the topic of the service is also integrated into the program of such lessons.
Teachers of the Department of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Business of VVSU tell schoolchildren about the correct table setting. The organizers of the project: Tourist Information Center of Primorsky Krai (Visit Primorye), Agency for Tourism of Primorsky Krai, Department of Education of Vladivostok. The project continues its procession through the schools of the city this year. Gastronomy lessons in the schools of the Far Eastern capital are held within the framework of the Year of the Family, announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin for 2024.
