Gastronomy and travel combined during a master class of Far Eastern cuisine
In the Far Eastern capital, the implementation of the project "Master classes of Far Eastern cuisine in Vladivostok schools" continues.
The event was held on February 8 at the secondary school No. 64 of Vladivostok. For the desks of the gastronomic lesson sat five-graders. The guys were open to communication, tried to repeat everything for their mentor and comprehended the basics of cooking the declared dish. As part of the gastronomic master class, the guys under the leadership of the sous-chef of the Central House of Supra Viktor Kireev prepared khinkali with shrimp and nut cookies. As it turned out, khinkali tried almost everything, but how to cook the dough, how to roll it out correctly and how to pinch the folds - it was all new, had to learn. The creative process required a lot of patience and diligence from the children, but they coped.
For the children, this lesson became a real career guidance. Everyone was interested in the profession of a chef: where do they learn this, what salary does a cook have, how many years it takes to become a sous-chef, how does the chef’s day go, how many people are subordinate to him? And the most immediate question: how can you combine in one dish the traditions of Georgian cuisine and Far Eastern dishes, so that no “side” was offended. The ability to combine products, taste shades, make out the presentation of dishes - there is no limit to perfection. But all of this has to be learned. And if before all teenagers wanted to be astronauts and captains, today children are openly interested in the profession of cook, which means that the prestige of the profession is growing. Another important point of such dialogues and lessons is that through profession, gastronomy, we try to instill in children an aspiration to history, culture, products, said Viktor Kireev. It is worth noting that with each such “delicious” lesson, its organizers have new ideas and formats for communicating with schoolchildren. Far Eastern cuisine is a great reason to travel around the Primorsky Territory. In order to "build" his small journey, each student received a gift magazine
"Wonders of Primorye", published by Visit Primorye. It was nice to hear that the guys know about some places and objects: somewhere they were resting with their parents, somewhere they went with a class on an excursion. But the most interesting for the children was the Vladivostok fortress. Even those who were there said they would be happy to go there again. So through gastronomy, we will instill a love for the region, for history, added Vitaly Stanislavchuk, Head of the Programs and Analytics Department of the Tourist Information Center of the Primorsky Territory (Visit Primorye), the Primorsky Territory Tourism Agency, the Department of Education of Vladivostok, Suma and Zuma restaurants. The event is held within the framework of the Year of the Family, announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin for 2024.
