The main “leopard” festival of Russia was held in Vladivostok

The festival “Leopard Day” (0+), dedicated to the Far Eastern leopard and its preservation, was held in Vladivostok on May 25, 2024. At the most "leopard" holiday of Russia, born in the Primorsky Territory, hundreds of people participated in various activities, showing personal indifference to rare cats. 

The Leopard Day Festival was organized by the FGBI "Land of the Leopard", the Tourism Agency of the Primorsky Territory, the Tourist Information Center of the Primorsky Territory (Visit Primorye) with the support of the production center "Live Brighter". On the occasion of the holiday, the heart of the seaside capital was occupied by thematic platforms dedicated to the Far Eastern leopard. The guests learned more about the rare cat, got acquainted with the work on its study and preservation.

Exactly 129 guests in the most "leopard" costumes - according to the number of wild Far Eastern leopards recorded in Russia - received a pleasant surprise in the form of ice cream. The holiday began with an invigorating sports flash mob charging and a symbolic run along the waterfront, which was organized by the RunDNSRun running club. After the sports session began a concert program with performances of musicians and creative groups, as well as a quiz. As part of the concert, a long-awaited creative competition of leopard costumes was held on the main stage. The winners received honorary titles of Leodevica and LeoOlodets and prizes from the festival partners, including certificates from the Tokyo restaurant and sets from the Supra chain of Georgian houses. During the work, the audience was interested in the master’s intricacies of his work, learning a lot of interesting things about animalistics. 

The Russian Post produced 1,000 postcards with the leopard Leo 80M, world-famous thanks to the eponymous documentary about his salvation. Participants of the festival were able to send free postcards by mail and share their impressions of the holiday. 

The Photomonitoring platform introduced guests to the work of the photo trap and the subtleties of studying rare cats. At other venues of the festival, anyone could buy souvenirs from the Land of the Leopard, listen to lectures on wildlife, take part in environmental master classes. Very popular with the youngest visitors was the aquagrim platform.

A bright element of the holiday was a creative performance to create a "leomobile". The creative enthusiasm of the staff of the “Land of the Leopard” spontaneously launched activity to paint the sedan in the colors and spots of a wild cat, which gave the festival another big “leopard”.

Thanks to the site of the festival partner – the water complex “Aquatoria” – everyone was able to relax, relax and feel themselves in the protected area for a few minutes, hearing the sounds of nature in the relaxation zone “How the Land of the Leopard” sounds with a meditative video.

The theatrical show of soap bubbles completed the leopard holiday.

The Far Eastern leopard is one of the main symbols of Primorye, because it lives only in this region of Russia. The goal of the festival is to tell about an amazing cat, a symbol of the region, which in its own way is close to everyone. Although the population of the subspecies is gradually increasing, the leopard is still extremely rare. Today, 129 Far Eastern leopards are recorded in Russia, so it is important to draw attention to the problems of its conservation.
