Exactly a month left before the great holiday for which the whole of Russia is preparing - the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East named after V.K. Arsenyev is in full swing preparations for an exhibition about events that were little known to the general public, which lasted even "117 days after the Victory."

The project will tell about the last stage of World War II - the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army, the liberation of China and Korea, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. But, according to the staff of the Arsenyev Museum, the exhibition will be much broader than the theme.

"Our exhibition is about the history of Russian-Japanese and Soviet-Japanese relations since the end of the XIX century. This is a narrative about the work of the rear and the release of ammunition by industrial enterprises of the Primorsky Territory, about how the offensive operations in Manchuria were prepared and took place by the forces of the two Far Eastern fronts, commented Angelica Petruk, Scientific Secretary of the Museum.

There is no doubt that the little-known and previously practically unpublished photos of photojournalists Nazarov, Myasnikov and Stanov, who captured the Manchurian operation literally from the first day of it, will cause special interest.

The main idea of the project is to show that the long-awaited day for millions of people around the world – May 9, 1945, which marked the liberation of Europe from fascism – is not the end of the story about the war.

We considered it our duty to remind everyone about the history of the struggle against fascism here, in the Far East, as an important part of the national memory, to tell about the military feat of soldiers committed after the cherished day. It was here, on the Pacific Ocean, with the defeat of the Kwantung Army, that the end of the Second World War was put, and the long-awaited peace came, reminds Victor Shalai.

>The opening of the exhibition "117 days after the Victory" is planned on April 25.
