Daur larch seedlings were planted for the first time in the Land of the Leopard national park in the south of Primorye.
Planting was done by volunteers of five organizations with the support of employees of the Land of the Leopard. Also in the wild “settled” thousands of seedlings of Korean cedar – bread tree Ussuri taiga. The planting of coniferous tree seedlings was carried out by the Land of the Leopard Directorate together with the Siberian Health Company, ANO White Cane School, Dobro.Center of Vladivostok, Sberbank and the Ginseng Walking League. The plantings were attended by employees of the forestry department of the Land of the Leopard directorate and more than 40 volunteers, including people with disabilities. The seedlings were purchased by Siberian Health. For the first time, 1500 Daurian larch seedlings were planted in the national park with the hands of sensitive volunteers. Also, 7,500 young Korean cedars have found a new home in the protected forests. This tree plays a huge role in the local ecosystem.
Korean pine, often referred to as "cedrom," is a breed that makes up the bulk of our annual plantings. However, we plant other types of trees, for example, yew pointed, pine thick-flowered and jagged oak. This informs our reforestation work of a complex nature, said Timur Maksurov, head of the forestry department of Lands of the Leopard.
Volunteers made a great contribution to the laying of a new section of the cedar forest. In the morning, an equipped team of volunteers met with environmentalists in the protected area and began landing. At the event, an atmosphere of support and love for the cause of nature conservation reigned.
The volunteer community in our city is very proactive, and environmental actions always attract with their constant relevance. Such actions allow everyone to make a personal contribution to the preservation of our unique nature, it inspires a lot of joy and enthusiasm, said Margarita Volkova, head of the “Good.Center Vladivostok”.
Similar actions to restore the forest “Land of the leopard” organizes annually: in the past, the forest of the region was badly damaged by fire and ax, which was one of the reasons for the decline in the population of the Red Book Far Eastern leopard. Therefore, it is necessary to help nature gradually recover from the anthropogenic loads of the past. National Park "Land of the Leopard" is located in the south-west of Primorsky Krai. It preserves the world’s only wild population of the Far Eastern leopard, one of the rarest cats in the world. Naturally, its habitat is also under protection, which also needs care. Flora of the territory includes about 800 species of plants, among which dozens of red book.
