On the fort Pospelova again flies the flag of the Vladivostok fortress
The grand opening of the new pedestrian season on one of the most beautiful objects of the fortress this year coincided with a significant event. Director of the Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East named after V.K. Arsenyev Victor Shalay and Governor of the Primorsky Territory Oleg Kozhemyako declared 2024 the Year of the Vladivostok Fortress. According to Viktor Shalay, raising the serf flag to mark the opening of the excursion season is becoming a good tradition. “Every year, regardless of weather conditions, we will come here and raise the flag in order to get out of the winter hibernation and show the readiness of the fortress facilities to receive guests,” Viktor Shalai said. The flag was raised by the cadets of S.O. Makarov TOVMU to the bells of the museum belfry, which is today operated by the bell ringing group of the Pokrovsky Cathedral. Emphasizing the importance of the sea fortification in the life of the city, the region, the whole of Russia, Oleg Kozhemyako noted that the Vladivostok fortress is a miracle of engineering and fortification thought, built by the hands of Russian engineers, soldiers and sailors who were here and left this memory of themselves. “It is important that the fortress has a great influence on the education of our youth and, of course, it will be included in the Arsenyev map,” said Oleg Kozhemyako.
