Vladivostok stores a lot of hidden pearls - locations that not everyone knows about. If the usual views of the bay and the bridge have already been explored, it is worth going to where unexpected panoramas, abandoned buildings or mysterious islands open. In this text - a selection of really unusual places in Vladivostok, so you can create your own unique route.

Interesting places in the city

Geocupole on the Monastery Hill is one of the most atmospheric objects of the city. This radio-transparent geodesic dome, previously covering the air defense radar, now looks like an art object. Nearby are the ruins of the Ussuri mortar battery and the positions of Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems. You can get there by car or on foot: along the main alley of the Marine cemetery and then to the gate of the former military unit.

In the center of the city there is the Millionka quarter - an ancient Chinese district with narrow streets, colorful architecture and unusual courtyards. It's nice to wander around, photograph nooks and discover old graffiti.

Also pay attention to Lake Youth (Lake Chan). It is a small fresh water body in the city, an informal place for walking and thinking, especially in the silence of the evening. Although swimming is prohibited, views of the lake and surroundings give a special atmosphere

Unusual islands near Vladivostok

When you want privacy and nature - go to the islands.

  • Russian Island – in addition to the famous routes, you can find old fort positions, forgotten batteries and trails along the rocks, where there are almost no people.
  • Shkota Island – it can be reached by spit from Russian Island during low tide, which makes the trip a small adventure. There are views of the strait and the feeling of “wild coast”.
  • Popov Island – silence, forests, beaches and water views without a loud urban atmosphere. Ideal for those who want to relieve stress and be closer to nature.

The small island of Skrebtsov, which the locals call Kovrizhka, has long been loved by fishermen and is interesting for its water area: the relief of the bottom and the current create excellent conditions for fish and shellfish here. In winter, the island turns into a real center of ice fishing - flounder, navaga, smelt are caught. And with the arrival of spring, the herring season begins.

Best unusual places, excursions and entertainment

To get more experience, it is worth adding activities that go beyond ordinary walks:

  • A helicopter ride over the bays and islands is an unusual way to see the city from above and capture panoramas that are inaccessible on foot or by car.
  • Rest in bath complexes on the water is a format that combines wellness procedures and relaxation with sea views. Many such complexes are located directly on pontoons or in bays, which makes the rest especially atmospheric.
  • Open-air classical music concerts - in summer and September organize chamber performances in parks and on the embankments.

Unusual places of Vladivostok are not just beautiful photos, they are emotions, history and a moment that is not in the guidebooks. The geodome, secluded islands, old forts and art objects give the city depth, make it personal for everyone who decides to go beyond the usual routes.
