From Millionka to Ship Embankment: in Vladivostok, excursions celebrated the Day of the Navy

> On the streets of the Far Eastern capital there is a special atmosphere: flags, people in visors, families of sailors, souvenirs with naval symbols, songs about the sea, ships and service in the fleet. Many guests come to Vladivostok these days to feel the spirit of the sea city, see the parade of ships and pay tribute to the military sailors.
On July 27, Vladivostok hosted thematic walking tours dedicated to the Navy Day. The participants were more than 190 people – residents of Vladivostok, guests from Primorye cities and tourists from other regions of the country.
"I was on two excursions - in the morning and in the evening. The program is designed so that I want to know more. I was glad that the groups were gathered of different ages: students, the elderly, and visitors. The guides kept their attention, spoke not learned, but from the heart. I especially liked the fact that each route has a respect for the city. It is rare to talk about your native place without platitudes, shared Artyom, an amateur historian from Samara
Further theme changed to the era of the Great Patriotic War. The participants of the military-patriotic quest “Contribution to Victory” went to the memorable places of Vladivostok, learned how the city lived and worked in the rear, providing the fleet and army, and what price its residents paid for the Victory. This route caused sincere emotions and gratitude to generations of defenders.
In the afternoon, a different, but no less important voice of urban history was heard - the Millionka tour opened the little-known pages of Vladivostok of the early XX century. The quarter, full of mysteries, legends and contrasts, became the background for a story about the lives of immigrants, underground hotels, international conflicts and unusual fates. When the day was leaning towards the evening, the excursion “God and St. Andrew’s Flag with us” took participants from the city center to the Ship Embankment, past monuments, cathedrals and sea temples. The route became a real ode to the sea spirit of the city, its tragic and heroic pages - from Tsushima to modern realities
My husband and I came from Khabarovsk Krai specifically for Navy Day. Of course, it is a pity that the parade of ships did not take place, but these excursions became a real gift - a lively, sincere, very touching form of the holiday, Elena P., a tourist from Khabarovsk, shared her impressions.
The end of the rich program was a deep and very personal excursion "Raise or Opal". Where did the commanders of the Pacific Fleet go, where the participants learned about the 25 commanders of the Pacific Fleet, their exploits, mistakes, life choices and role in the fate of the city. The stories of these people allowed us to look at the Navy in a different way - through the prism of specific destinies, personal bravery and responsibility.
"For me, a big surprise is the excursion "Rise or Opal." I learned a lot about those who commanded the Pacific Fleet, about people with difficult fate, about decisions that influenced the course of history. Very interesting and informative, said Alexey, a student from Vladivostok.
Navy Day excursions became an important part of the holiday. They helped to remember the history, to feel involved in the maritime fate of the city and to spend this day with benefit and respect for traditions.
This year, on July 27, all of Russia celebrates the Day of the Navy, in addition, 2025 is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. That is why it was decided to hold a series of free excursions dedicated to these topics together with the Primorsky branch of the Russian Geographical Society. Visiting them, tourists were able to learn about the exploits of Primorsky people during the Great Patriotic War, about the main historical moments in the emergence and development of Vladivostok: from a military fortress to a modern sea city. Very pleased that our excursions are interesting and in demand among the guests of the city, who came to us from Moscow, Samara, Arkhangelsk, Karelia, St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Mari El, Irkutsk and many other regions and cities, said Anastasia Povetkina, Deputy Head of the Tourism and Information Department of the Tourist Information Center of the Primorsky Territory (Visit Primorye).&nbqu;
