Almost 1000 schoolchildren of Vladivostok took part in gastro lessons from the Tourist Information Center of Primorye

With the end of the academic year, gastronomic lessons in Vladivostok schools end.

The project, which took place from November to May, showed its relevance and necessity. Satisfaction was received by all participants of this gastronomic history – 15 restaurants in Vladivostok and almost a thousand schoolchildren from the 2nd to the 9th grades. The chefs had the opportunity to communicate with a new audience, to share their experience, to tell about the profession – unlike regular visitors to restaurants, the guys are open to dialogue on different topics, and the more interesting the communication was. Schoolchildren changed the situation, did something with their own hands not for the sake of evaluation, but for pleasure, and some of the high school students even agreed on a summer part-time job.

Parents noted the manifestation of respect for products, interest in the work of catering and the desire to embody the knowledge gained at home - someone cooked, someone was carried away by the service. Teachers noted the well-established career-oriented orientation of such classes, changes in the behavior of children – they created everything together: from excellent students to C students, from restless to indifferent. Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service (VVSU) also took part in the project, whose representatives told the children about the educational opportunities of the university in the direction of training specialists in the tourism industry.

This is further evidence that the project has “shot.” It turned out to be very multifaceted: the transfer of knowledge, heart-to-heart conversations, the secrets of the profession, acquaintance with the Far Eastern cuisine and the possibilities of traveling around the edge. Children's audiences are receptive to information. And we are sure that soon we will receive new travelers, fans of tourism, future representatives of the hospitality industry. The new academic year 2024-2025 is not far off. And the project of gastro lessons will continue, said Olga Gurevich, Director of the Tourist Information Center of the Primorsky Territory.

The final lesson will be held on May 15 at Vladivostok School No. 74. Students of the 2nd grade under the guidance of a team of chefs from the restaurant of the water complex "Aquatoria" in the framework of the upcoming festival "O! Mega Taste! will make a sandwich with pollock. The media are invited to participate in this lesson.
