The Primorsky Oceanarium on Russky Island is the largest in Russia and one of the most modern in Asia. This is not just a museum of marine fauna, but a scientific and educational complex that combines technology, ecology and an impressive show. If you are planning a holiday in Vladivostok, be sure to include it in the route: this is one of those places where you do not want to leave.

What to see in the Primorsky Oceanarium

The main pavilion of the aquarium consists of nine exposition halls. Each is devoted to a separate topic: from the seas of Russia to tropical ecosystems and deep-sea inhabitants. On the route there are sharks, octopuses, seals, bright clown fish and even rare species of jellyfish.

Of particular interest is the exhibition “Sea of Russia”, which presents the ecosystems of the Barents, Okhotsk, Japanese seas, as well as the Amur river. Here you can see how the life of marine life differs depending on the region.

Do not miss the tunnel with a 360-degree view: stingrays swim overhead, sharks come almost close to the glass. This is one of the most impressive places in the complex.

Dolfinarium, schedule and useful information

One of the brightest parts of the visit is the show in the dolphinarium. Performances are held daily, except Monday, in a separate hall. The show features bottlenose dolphins, beluga whales, walruses and sea lions. Duration - about 40 minutes.

How much time to set aside for a visit to the aquarium? 

On average - 3-4 hours. During this time, you will have time to go around all the halls, watch the show and have a snack in one of the three cafes on the territory of the complex.

Work schedule:From Tuesday to Sunday, from October 01 to April 30 from 9:30 to 20:00; from May 01 to September 30 from 9:00 to 20:00. Ticket offices close at 18:30.

 

How to get to the aquarium in Vladivostok

 

The Primorsky Oceanarium is located on Russky Island, about 23 km from the center of Vladivostok.
You can get there by car, moving across the Russian Bridge towards the FEFU campus, and then by signs. There is parking.

It is worth considering that it is impossible to enter the territory by personal car. You can walk to the aquarium building or take a free shuttle.

Public transport: buses No. 11, 15, 29, 63, 74, 75, 76, 77. It's about 50 minutes. Go to the final - "Maritime Oceanarium".

Taxi or car sharing - a convenient option, especially if you are traveling with children or a large company.
