Russian families went to Vladivostok “on the trail of the tiger”

Family travel is very popular this year. It's the Year of the Family on the calendar. And if we talk about tourism, it means more offers, more creativity to be interesting for both children and adults.

Vladivostok offers unique opportunities for family adventures and unforgettable experiences. During the implementation of the educational project “More than a journey”, which opens up new opportunities for traveling around Russia and getting acquainted with different regions of our country, eight families came to Vladivostok from Irkutsk, Astrakhan, Kalmykia, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Kazan, Arkhangelsk, Krasnoyarsk. All of them became winners and prize-winners of various competitions.

Acquaintance with the eastern outpost of Russia is designed for seven days. The program included a sightseeing tour of Vladivostok, a sightseeing tour of the Russian Island with a visit to the Akhlestyshev Bay, a visit to the Primorsky Oceanarium and the FEFU campus, the Museum-Reserves of the History of the Far East named after V.K. Arsenyev, a sea trip around the water area. A trip to the Shkotovsky district with a visit to the safari park was also organized.

Working with family groups is always an interesting experience, because you try to adapt the material and find an approach to each of the participants. While the guests were with us, we managed not only to see the sights of Vladivostok and Russky Island, but also visited the safari park. Acquaintance with the tiger heritage has become a significant addition to the program and strengthened the overall impression of the tour participants about our region, said tour guide Olga Yena.

Tourist and Information Center of Primorsky Krai (Visit Primorye) became a participant in the program for receiving guests. As an acquaintance with Vladivostok, family tourists were invited to take a tiger quest. This allowed you to hear the history of the city, see art objects, learn a lot of interesting things about the owner of the Ussuri taiga and plunge into a pleasant atmosphere. We love traveling to your amazing region. The program was very rich - we walk a lot, admire the sea, you have a great cuisine. We also learned a lot about the history of your city and its people. It is amazing that there are so many interesting tiger sites in the city and the proposed quest is like a real trip. You can immediately see that in your city they treat these wild cats with love and share this love with the guests of the city, one of the tour participants told about her trip

Cooperation with colleagues from the project "More than travel" is an opportunity for us to once again share and reveal the tourist potential of Primorsky Krai. In the quest, we watch the tigers of our city, talk about the features and habits of predators, get acquainted with myths and legends, talk about the fragility of the nature around us, discuss new opportunities for promoting Vladivostok. It was interesting to get feedback from a family audience and see their vision of our region. Emotions overwhelmed the guests. And it is safe to say that when they return to their cities, the word of mouth will work with renewed vigor. They will definitely tell their friends and acquaintances about Vladivostok, Anastasia Povetkina, deputy head of the tourist and information department of the Tourist and Information Center of the Primorsky Territory, shared her impressions about the acquaintance of family tourists with the Far Eastern capital, which has been implemented in a new format since September 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Tourism of the Primorsky Territory. On the route, participants look closely related to the history of the city art objects dedicated to the tiger, learn about the work to preserve the population of the Red Book predator. In parallel, participants answer interesting questions about the Amur tiger.

The project is a finalist of the “Route of the Year-2024” competition, a finalist of the national stage of the “Turbrand of the Year” competition of the V International competition of tourist brands “GOLD BRAND” – 2024. Since September 2023, more than 700 people have participated in the tiger quest. Recall that 2024 was declared the Year of the Family by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in order to popularize the state policy in the field of family protection, preservation of traditional family values.
