Gastronomy lessons in Vladivostok schools: any dish can be not only tasty, but also beautiful

Primorsky Krai is a fishery region, and this is not discussed. And fish dishes in the arsenal of each hostess is apparently invisible. And for everyday lunches, and on the festive table. This was confirmed by the eighth graders of the Vladivostok school No. 74 during a master class dedicated to the diversity of Far Eastern cuisine.
In this lesson, the children under the guidance of chef Alexandra Saprykina from the restaurant "Milk and Honey" mastered the basics of cooking fish dumplings. Farsh was made of pollock, but dough is a separate topic for conversation and impressions. It was colored. Children were offered three variants of color dough based on spinach, beets and turmeric. The ingredients for sculpting were prepared in advance, so the work was boiling - the guys did everything quickly and sporadically. After getting acquainted with a professional pasta machine with which you can roll dough, everyone tried to do it on their own. And then they cut out the mugs from the dough, and then filled them with cooked mince. It was so exciting that two second-graders joined the class. The children were also shown how to use the same pasta machine to prepare pasta. Everyone can participate in this process.
The impression of such lessons is the most positive. This is an excellent event for communication, exchange of experience and, from the point of view of benefit, invaluable. I think that some students after such an event thought about the profession of a cook and that even a simple dish can be served in rainbow colors, says the class leader of the 8-b class Irina Nikmey. In addition to the cooking process, the guys learned how to serve the dish beautifully. After all, the color of the dishes, the serving of the table, the design of the served dish affects both the atmosphere of the dinner and the appetite. About the purpose of cutlery (and how to use them if a person is left-handed), about the rules of serving a table for a particular meal, about the importance of table etiquette, the children were told by a student of the International Institute of Environment and Tourism of VVSU Valeria Riskina. The lesson itself was dynamic, positive, in a friendly atmosphere.
After the end, the guys interrupted each other, shared their impressions: — The event was good, and the dumplings turned out tasty. And it was all very interesting and exciting. —Nbsp; I really liked this lesson, I would like more of these workshops. I think I will go to the cooks. – We liked everything: responsive and friendly staff, told and showed everything. Now let us repeat it at home.” The organizers of the project: Tourist Information Center of Primorsky Krai (Visit Primorye), Agency for Tourism of Primorsky Krai, Department of Education of Vladivostok. The project continues its procession through the schools of the city this year. Gastronomy lessons in the schools of the Far Eastern capital are held within the framework of the Year of the Family, announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin for 2024.
