This is the first joint project of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Arsenyev Museum.
According to the director of the State Museum of Fine Arts Elizaveta Likhacheva, the exhibition is devoted to an important topic: new opportunities in the scientific study of the Egyptian museum collection. This became possible thanks to the joint work of museum workers and specialists of the NRC “Kurchatov Institute”. Three years of research has helped scientists see mummies from the inside. The results of scientific research were presented to a wide range of amateurs in the exhibition project. The head of one of the leading federal museums noted that without the support of the state represented by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, ANO “Territory of Culture” and the FESCO Transport Group, the implementation of such a large-scale project far beyond Moscow would be unlikely. For the first time in many years, we can bring not only lecture activities, but also full-scale expositions to the regions. By the way, thanks to FESCO’s financial assistance, an extensive lecture program is ready for Vladivostok residents, significantly strengthened than the one we did in Moscow two years ago. The best specialists will come here with lectures, Likhacheva announced.
Underlining the importance of inter-museum cooperation, the director of the Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East Viktor Shalay noted that such interaction opens access to historical heritage to residents of different regions.
People living in Vladivostok, in the vast territory of the entire Far East, such projects give a sense of involvement in a full-fledged cultural turnover, in any cultural processes occurring in the country. In turn, the mayor of Vladivostok Konstantin Shestakov thanked the directors of museums for the opportunity to get acquainted with unique objects, representatives of the ancient civilization and invited all citizens to the Arsenyev Museum. In four thematic halls for a time "settled" unique artifacts with a centuries-old history. Among them are wooden painted sarcophagus, canopies (ritual vessels), reliefs, statues and statuettes, fragments of mummies decor, bronze plastic, art craft items and amulets. “Reviving” mummies – 3D reconstructions of the appearance of the ancient Egyptians (young women and men) – give an opportunity to imagine what the inhabitants of the long-vanished civilization of the Nile Valley looked like. And filled with interesting details, the story of guides will immerse visitors in the mysterious world of Ancient Egypt, help to understand different aspects of the complex complex of Egyptian ideas about immortality and eternal life. The exhibition will last until June 9.
