Video with the Amur tiger against the background of Vladivostok for the first time received in Primorye

The first video with the Amur tiger against the background of the capital of Primorye was obtained by scientists of the Directorate of Reserves “Land of the Leopard”. The photo trap not only brought new information about the Red Book predator, but also clearly showed that rare cats are neighbors of citizens. A new video featuring a striped beast has captured hidden forest chambers of "Land of the Leopard" during a snowfall. At first, the footage shows a sunny day, so you can see the outlines of the city and the famous Vladivostok bridges. Later, the weather changed, it got colder, snow fell, and this place was visited by an adult Amur tiger. The predator first passed by, but then, sniffing, decided to rest in an open, well-warmed place opposite the camera trap. During the rest, the striped predator “washed” and for a few seconds looked carefully towards the seaside capital. The video was obtained on the territory of the national park near the Peschany Peninsula, which is part of the Vladivostok city district. The tiger is shot near the shore of the Amur Bay, which divides the lands of big cats and Vladivostok. “The camera is mounted on top of the hill so that its lens is directed towards the sea. On the other bank you can see the silhouette of Vladivostok. 

"The appearance of such images clearly shows that rare cats live next to people," said Viktor Storozhuk, an employee of the science department of the FGBI "Land of the Leopard."

Information from the camera trap helped scientists establish the "personality" of the tiger living here. Analysis of the pattern of stripes on the skin of the predator showed that a young male under the number T 115M got into the camera lens. Previously, it was recorded only on the territory of the reserve “Cedar Pad”, but thanks to new data, we see that over time, T 115M began to develop picturesque places opposite the city, separated from the “cat lands” by the bay. This is the first video in the striped model portfolio. The T115M was rarely seen in late-night photographs. The pictures show that the tiger is all right, he is in good physical shape and clearly does not experience problems with food. The main range is located in the south of the Far East of Russia. An independent group of these wild cats lives in the forests of southwestern Primorye, where it is under reliable protection in the national park “Land of the Leopard”. For cats here "watch" 500 automatic cameras, forming the largest network of camera traps in Russia. According to the latest data, 58 adult Amur tigers were recorded in the protected areas of the Leopard Land. Here is the highest density of this subspecies in the world.
