Today, August 1, on the beach of the Bay of Steklyannaya again held the action "Shalls of the sea". The first time the action occurred in mid-July and caused a great resonance among residents of Vladivostok. This time, the action attracted the attention of business representatives, public organizations and ordinary citizens, who are not indifferent to the fate of one of the bays in the suburbs of Vladivostok. Among the rescuers Glasses, which is how the townspeople lovingly call the bay, were employees of the Tourist Information Center of the Primorsky Territory (Visit Primorye) and volunteers of the project “Striped Navigator”. I read about it last time after it was done. I am glad that I was able to participate. Especially at home she laid down and collected glass bottles, collected unnecessary jars of jam, bacon, seized even old plates. It is nice that such a great attention is paid to the preservation of our popular bay and glass thanks to the creative approach of a person returning to the sea, one of the participants of the Shards of the Sea action shared her thoughts.
The bay received its name for the effective symbiosis of human and nature activities. Once taken here, glass debris was subjected to treatment by sea waves, and as a result, the shore became strewn interspersed with stone and glass pebbles. But the increasing popularity of the coast, numerous visits of tourists have led to a significant reduction in glass “pebbles”. And the bay began to lose its charm.
In the framework of the second action "Splinters of the Sea" was brought a little more than three cubic meters of broken glass. In small batches, the glass was loaded into concrete mixers. Added cobblestones and water contributed to the glass grinding process. While the concrete mixer grinded the fragments of the imported bottles and other products, the “striped” volunteers laid out the inscription “Save the beach” on the beach and supplemented it with a “stone” heart. Chinese tourists also helped create an improvised art object made of glass stones. They not only searched for the right stones, brought water, but also took pictures against the background of the inscription, and also actively participated in the grinding of glass before loading into the mixing container.
