World Environment Day and professional holiday – Environmental Day – are celebrated on June 5 in Russia. On this occasion, the Directorate of the Land of the Leopard Reserves will open the Eyes of the Sea photo exhibition in Vladivostok and hold several lectures at various sites in the south of the Primorsky Territory.

World Environment Day is an international date with a 50-year history, the main purpose of which is to draw attention to the problems of nature conservation and stimulate activity for its protection. In turn, the Day of the ecologist is a professional holiday of all Russian environmentalists, environmentalists, public figures and environmental activists. To note the importance of these events, "Land of the Leopard" conducts a series of eco-educational events.

It was on this day from the very morning in one of the largest trade and exhibition complexes of Primorye - "Kalina Mall" (Kalinina St., 8) - the photo exhibition "Eyes of the Sea" was opened. Everyone can enjoy the views of the Far Eastern Marine Biosphere Reserve and its inhabitants on the third floor next to the food court area. A significant part of the exhibition consists of underwater images of marine life in its natural habitat, and landscapes with a protected sea and rocky capes will show the picturesque “earth” side of the marine reserve. It is noteworthy that the authors of the images are employees of the reserve.

Also the Day of the ecologist will be marked by "Land of the Leopard" eco-educational lectures. In Vladivostok at 13:00 guests of the Central Library named after A. Chekhov (100th anniversary of Vladivostok, 48) will be told about specially protected natural areas under the management of the directorate of reserves and its inhabitants, including the rare Far Eastern leopard. Entrance is free. A similar lecture will also be held in the exhibition hall of the Central Estate hotel complex in the village of Barabash.

To draw attention to the problems of preserving the Far Eastern leopard and other rare animals, the specialists of the "Land of the Leopard" are working to educate residents and guests of the Primorsky Territory. Important elements of such work are special lectures, exhibitions and festivals.

The United Directorate of Reserves "Land of the Leopard" was established in 2012 to preserve and restore the world's only population of the Far Eastern leopard. Work is underway to protect nature from poaching, logging and forest fires, environmental education and ecotourism are developing.
