Tops and cliffs of the Primorsky Territory: a guide to mountain trails

Loading...

The relief of the Far East strikes with its contrasts: here the centuries-old mountains of the Primorsky Territory come close to the Sea of Japan, forming steep capes and cozy bays. Travelers are often interested in which mountains in the Primorsky Territory and rock complexes are worth visiting first. Among the most impressive locations of the region stand out:

  • Cape Bruce and Basalt Colonnade - grand volcanic formations with hexagonal columns.
  • Ekaterinovsky rock massif is an ancient coral reef in the valley of the Partizan River with a network of karst caves and mountaineering trails.

Special attention should be paid to coastal stone giants - kekurs of Primorye, formed by storm waves and winds. For example, the “Two Brothers” kekerfs in the Ore Wharf are legendary basalt pillars protruding from the depths of the sea, which were depicted on the 1995 banknote.

Exploring kekers in the Primorsky Territory on a sappord or boat, you can look into the secret grottoes and meet spotted larg seals.

The highest mountains in the Primorsky Territory: the peaks and height of the Sikhote-Alin ranges

The main reference point for climbers of the Primorsky Territory is the highest mountain — Anique, whose peak reaches 1933 meters above sea level in the north of the region. However, the more accessible large mountains of the Primorsky Territory as part of the Sikhote-Alin ridge offer no less interesting trails and picturesque landscapes.

Popular high-altitude routes of the region:

  • Anik Mountain (1933 m) is a hard-to-reach northern peak on the border with the Khabarovsk Territory, requiring expeditionary training.
  • The Cloud Mountain (1854 m) is the highest peak of the national park "The Call of the Tiger" with fascinating alpine meadows and tundra.
  • The Sister Mountain (1671 m) is a cult peak of the Lazov district, famous for kurumniki and for the weather, which the capozoric mountains exceed their heights.

Even on the accessible trails, you will need sturdy ankle-supported trekking boots, a warm windbreaker and water supply.

💡 Be sure to register a group in the Emergencies Ministry before entering the difficult route, so that the ascent is comfortable and safe.
