Baranovsk volcano

Baranovsk volcano in Primorsky Krai
Baranovsky volcano is a volcano that has long ceased to operate. And the only volcano in the world cut in half, which is about 2 million years old. And you know where it is? Just an hour and a half drive from Vladivostok. This is a great place for a walk in the fresh air, a picnic and a photo shoot: it is easy to get here, and a convenient path leads to the viewing sites.
From the cliff opens a panorama of the wide river Razdolnaya, which flows through the mouth of the volcano, the compact village Terekhovka, a busy railway, on which the next train crawls every now and then.
What you did not know about the sheep volcano
The valley is clamped by rocks, about which Przewalsky wrote:
The narrow valley accompanying the middle course of this river, 15 versts below the village of Nikolskaya, is suddenly compressed by sheer cliffs, which stretch for about a mile and are known as Bear cheeks. This name is given to them, as they say, because in the crevices of these rocks bears often arrange themselves winter lairs. I can only testify that this place is very picturesque and wonderfully repeated echoes, so that the gun shot rattles with various rolls for a long time.”
The local special relief was formed by the Razdolnaya River, washing away half of the volcano and exposing the layers of its rocks to the delight of archaeologists. During the war, explosives were used here, extracting pumice for making pontoons.
In various sources, they write that there are waterfalls, caves, and training places for speleologists on the Baranovsky volcano.
