The mass grave of the sailors of the Pacific Fleet, who died in battles with Japan in August 1945, is located in Gaydamak Square. The monument is a 12-meter obelisk made of concrete with a bronze star and a black memorial plaque glorifying the heroes. During combat operations, the sailors showed outstanding bravery, and 52 of them became Heroes of the Soviet Union. The obelisk, opened in 1945, is decorated with cast-iron emblems of paratroopers on the side faces.
