Translated from the Jurchen language, “Pidan” means “stones filled with God.” This name of the mountain was due to the stone mounds located not only on the slopes, but also on the top. Huge boulders and small stones were as if piled with someone’s giant hand. Scientists still can not clearly explain the origin of such a stone mound. Because of this, Pidan has been called a magical mountain since ancient times.
