Askold is an island in Peter the Great Bay with an amazing history, unique nature and interesting sights. Desolate beaches, breathtaking landscapes, lost gold mines, ancient lighthouses, once formidable coastal tools and mysterious dungeons - all this can be found on Askold.

The shape of the island resembles a horseshoe. On the southern, concave side there is Naridnik Bay, where tourists arriving on the island stand with tents.

The main attraction and business card of Askold is a lighthouse. More precisely, there are two lighthouses here - old and new. They are located on Cape Elagina at a slight distance from each other

Tourists also visit the remains of military buildings. Tower battery No. 26 appeared on the island in 1939 and for a long time provided the defense of approaches to Vladivostok, working in the coastal defense system together with the Voroshilov battery and battery No. 220 at Cape Gamov.

Battery No. 26 consists of two armored towers, each of which mounted two guns caliber 180 mm, capable of hitting enemy ships at a distance of up to 37 km. Under the towers are two-storey underground blocks, which are connected by a tunnel about 1.5 kilometers long with a battery command post and an underground power station.

How to get there: it is very difficult to get to Askold on your own - there are no regular connections between the island and the mainland. Usually tourists and vacationers unite through social networks in groups and rent a boat from Vladivostok or the Danube. Askold tours are also offered by some seaside travel companies.
