Monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union D.M. Karbyshev

The monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union Dmitry Karbyshev was installed in the park in his name and opened in 1987. Karbyshev, a lieutenant general and professor, displayed heroism in the Russo-Japanese and First World Wars, as well as in the Great Patriotic War, where he was captured by the enemy. He refused to cooperate with the Nazis and died in the Mauthausen concentration camp in February 1945. The monument includes a bust of Karbyshev on a pedestal lined with marble tiles, and a memorial plaque with the Hero Star.
