Primorsky Youth Theatre

The Seaside Youth Theatre was founded in 1946. It received its current name in 2000. The building of the theater is a monument of architecture and culture. The auditorium is designed for 270 seats.
The history of the youth theater in Vladivostok dates back more than one decade. The first children’s theater in the capital of Primorye was opened before the Great Patriotic War. It is mentioned in the Great Children's Encyclopedia, which indicates the year of discovery - 1930. It was the second in line of opening children's theater in Soviet Russia (the first - in Leningrad).In 1940, the Youth Theatre again became an independent unit.
In 1954, the theater received a permanent residence permit on Svetlanskaya Street, 15a. The facade of the theater, built in 1876, is a regional historical monument. The reconstruction of the building for the theater lasted 7 years. It was a truly striking youth construction project, on which the actors themselves, and students, and working youth worked
Only in the first 10 years 83 performances were staged, a well-coordinated creative team was created. “Pioneer’s Time” brought the TYZ all-Union fame. He repeatedly became the winner of the annual reviews of theatrical and entertainment enterprises. During these years, the theater actively participates in various competitions and festivals.
In the mid-1980s, the theater changed: it rejected the youthful maximalism of the “Komsomol age”, his work became deeper and more refined. At festivals, the theater presented its original productions, which were talked about in the theater circles of the country. They combined a bright modern theatrical form with psychological clarity and imagery of the actors.
Theatre acutely feels the rhythm of time, focuses on the prospects of Russia under construction. The Youth Theatre is an active participant in the governor’s program “Masters of Arts for Primorye Residents”, continues to conduct patronage work. The actors of the theater can be seen in the most remote corners of the Primorsky Territory: they play their performances to sailors, border guards, residents of the regional outback. Professionalism and mobility of the troupe, the art of theater masters are in constant demand in the organization of urban and regional theatrical events.
An important event for the theater in 2018 was the release of the play "Scarlet Sails" (directed by Lydia Vasilenko) for the 80th anniversary of the Primorsky Territory and the birthday of the city of Vladivostok and the release of the play "The Oath" (directed by Sergey Rudenok) about the feat of the young guards.
The theater is constantly working to improve the professional level of actors. He put into practice training trainings with the participation of a teacher on the stage speech of the Moscow Art Theatre School-Studio Marina Garcia Salan and an artist and director of the theater Roman Viktyuk Alexander Dzyuba.
An important event for the theater was the organization of the First Pacific Festival of Contemporary Drama "Metadrama". In 2019, the festival acquired international status. To participate in it, theater groups are invited not only from the Far Eastern regions, but also from the Asia-Pacific countries.
