Dersu Rock

The rock of Dersu Uzala is the hallmark of the Kavalerovo district. And as a symbol was placed on his coat of arms. This is a unique geological object and a natural monument.

The Monolithic cliff is located on the outskirts of the urban-type village of Kavalerovo and rises above the Mirror River.
In 1995, a cave was discovered and explored at an altitude of 7 meters. On the slopes of the rock are found fragments of ancient ceramics. Perhaps many centuries ago, the rock was the cult center of the peoples who inhabited this valley.

According to legend, under this rock, the first meeting of the explorer Vladimir Klavdievich Arsenyev with the gold guide Dersu Uzala – a resident of these places took place. However, according to local historians, a significant meeting took place far from this place.
