"Season of garlic": can be considered a discovery
From April 22 to May 5, the Cheremshy Season festival is held in Vladivostok - a holiday of the first tastes of spring and a great reason to look at your favorite restaurants.
Vladivostok is regularly named among the most attractive destinations for gastrotourism in Russia - and gastronomic festivals play an important role in this. It was in the capital of Primorye that such well-known national events as the festivals “Hold the crab!” and “On the Crest!” were born. The just-launched festival is the latest (in every sense!) addition to this list. However, in the family of Georgian houses “Supra” the season of garlic has been organized for six years, but now everyone has been invited to participate for the first time. You just need to include a special set in the restaurant menu - at least three dishes, garlic in the recipe, the cost of the dish up to 500 rubles. The list of participants is on the website of the festival, you can personally evaluate the ideas of the chefs strictly from April 22 to May 5
Developed festival set "Supra" chef Timur Akchurin explains:
At the same time, garlic is a product that is both simple and rich; many chefs especially note its ability to "play on any field", enriching the tastes of the main dish with the same ease as a garnish or sauce.
The organizers of the festival also emphasize: one of the objectives of the "Cheremshi Season" is to popularize local products; ideally, the festival should become a popular annual event, loved by both residents of Vladivostok and tourists. It may even be out of town – as we all know, there are precedents. Especially since cherry is considered “their” greenery almost all over the continent.
“Cherry is very common, and it is loved absolutely everywhere – whether in Georgia, in Moscow, or in Primorye. Just like, yes, the Georgian cuisine! Seriously, I really think cherry is a very Georgian green just because of its nature. Bright! Scented! Green, crunch and fresh! Khachapuri or hashlam, fried khinkali with an egg, salads ... garlic fits perfectly into tastes, says Timur Akchurin .
About the same vein are expressed by other participants of the festival, no matter what the gastronomic direction, national cuisine or even just the mood they represent. So, Eugene Zhurba, brand chief of the cult Vladivostok network of Asian street food "Chi-Fan" says that when developing the festival set was inspired by childhood memories.
" In our set, the favorite cherry is superimposed on the signature seaside-Asian beat, yes – but it is also the memory of my grandmother, the culinary virtuoso of my childhood. Buckwheat with barley easily becomes buckwheat noodles, dumplings-"dumpsters" - a twist on the theme of Korean "tokpokki", and lunch from the classic "cheremsh" salad with bread and sausage - a kind of Japaneseized hot dog. It is as if the unforgotten granny recipes suddenly came to life on the streets of modern Guangzhou.
Azamat Mukhamedov, the head and chef of "Omlet Station" also likes to experiment with garlic and admits that he considers it a real treasure.
