In Vladivostok, on May 24-26, the second gastrofestival of pollock "O!Mega Vcus" (0+) was held. And if the first was new, the second was already waiting. The chefs demonstrated their achievements and creative ideas. For Vladivostok residents, the festival is an occasion for rest, good mood and meetings with friends. Guests of the city tried to understand what it was and what it was eaten with. For all doubters, master classes were held, where everyone was shown a variety of dishes from pollock and how to prepare it. For a day and a half, on May 24 and 25, 7 master classes were held. This process was conducted by the author of the project “Gastronomic Map of Russia”, curator of the House of Russian Kitchen at VDNKh Ekaterina Shapovalova, who specially came to Vladivostok. The best chefs of Vladivostok presented pollock in all its splendor - from dishes for the festive table and kulebaki to cooked ears and salads and snacks with white wild fish. Each master class is almost 70 portions. The audience acted as the main experts. No one was disappointed.

"We want to see Mintai at a wedding, cafe, gas station and school. Dishes from this fish can offer both a restaurant and a fast food system. And it is very important that the possibilities of cooking pollock dishes, the beneficial properties of fish at the festival are not revealed by visiting “stars”, but by the local team of chefs who are real fans of Far Eastern cuisine and local products. Today, touring festivals fit into tourism. But tourism is like a phantom. We reveal it, and inside, what we need to develop, promote is our kitchen, - Ekaterina Shapovalova is sure .

On the festival site worked chefs 22 restaurants of Vladivostok and Buryatia. Someone is not the first time participating in gastronomic events, and for someone it was an outlet. Everyone is happy: drive, communication with guests events and colleagues, new ideas. For the festival, the chefs specially designed dishes. The requirements are simple, but important: in the future, these dishes should appear in the menu of participating restaurants. Zavertons and crispy tubes, mini-lubberries and khinkali, omelet “chatter” and fragrant ear, etc. – more than 50 dishes of pollock were developed and “released” for the festival program. In a day and a half, 9,955 meals and 3,471 drinks were sold. No one left hungry.

Because of the Sunday cyclone, the holiday had to be curtailed. But the pollock story goes on. Every festival is like the first. Both the organization and the program. And this gastro-event demonstrates a unique combination of producers and processors of pollock, retail, tourism, business segment HoReCa. The RPK is working to raise the status of pollock in the country. We will never have an after position. The festival is scaled by the efforts of each participant. Ahead are new plans, ideas, set up in conducting master classes with pollock, promoting fish in school menus. So, the festival is a large community that communicates and gives rise to interesting projects, said Alexei Merkulov, Director for External and Internal Communications of the Russian Fishery Company. 

For two days, the festival venue "O! Mega Taste was visited by 15,000 people. Among them are not only citizens, but also guests of the Far Eastern capital.

When the theme of gastro festivals started four years ago, there were five restaurants that wanted to go out and take part in the events. Now that number has grown to 25. The gastronomic component is an important point in the formation of advertising tours for representatives of the travel industry, bloggers.
