Weekend Route in the Partisan District
Ready-made two-day plan for independent travel in southern Primorye: ancient rocks and caves and interactive archaeological sites of the Partizan district
Itinerary programme
At the confluence of the Partizanskaya River in the sea, two visiting cards of southern Primorye rise - Mount Brother and Sister.
When climbing, it is worth remembering the basic rules:
- Wear durable trekking shoes - the trail is rocky and crumbles in places.
- Drink water in advance - there are no clean springs on the slopes themselves.
- Calculate the time - it is better to climb in the morning to avoid the heat of the day.
From the top of Mount Sister opens a circular view of the Bay of Nakhodka and the neighboring Mount Brat. In Soviet times, Brat lost his crown due to industrial limestone mining, which forever changed the historical relief of the valley. Today, this natural monument attracts fans of panoramic photos and hiking from all over the region.
Catherine caves are considered one of the most accessible speleo objects of Primorye. The local rock massif is riddled with dozens of karst cavities, galleries and halls that have washed underground water for centuries.
For inspection, you do not need professional speleonic equipment, it is enough to have a headlamp and comfortable shoes. Please note that the cool temperature is kept inside the halls all year round. Dress warmly, take care of fragile walls and do not disturb bats if you meet them in closed areas.
The majestic rock of Przewalski is a sheer monolithic wall about forty meters high. For decades, this rock cliff serves as the main training ground for seaside climbers.
At the foot and on top of the cliff, travelers are waiting for interesting objects:
- Equipped climbing routes of different difficulty levels.
- Observation platforms with a view of Partisan Valley and the curves of the railway.
- The entrances to the eponymous cave where scientists discovered the bones of extinct ancient animals.
From the top of the array opens an excellent view of the Golden Valley. Historians say that in ancient times these rocks were used as observation posts of the Jurchen. Today, you can easily climb here on foot along a trampled trail to take great panoramic pictures and relax in the fresh air.
Cognitive excursions in the Primorsky Territory will be incomplete without immersion in the ethnography of the Far East. The Paleovillage Museum is a unique open-air interactive complex built by scientists. The exposition is based at the foot of the ancient coral ridge Chandalaz on the site of real excavations of the Iron Age settlement.
Inside the museum complex for guests, historical dwellings of different eras were recreated:
- Crownian semi-earthlings of archaeological culture with authentic hearths.
- Traditional summer and winter houses of the indigenous Udege people from bark and poles.
- Existing forges, pottery workshops and craft areas.
Such excursions around the Primorsky Territory are ideal for traveling with children. In Paleovillage you can touch the life of ancient tribes, shoot with arches and take part in master classes. This is a great final point for a busy family route in the Partizan district.
