Gorky Theatre in Vladivostok

The creative history of the theater began on November 3, 1932: then the play "Street of Joy" by N. Zarhi was shown on the stage. But even before the start of the first theatrical season in October 1932, the Vladivostok City Council decided to name the theater Maxim Gorky. In honor of the fortieth anniversary of the literary activity of the writer.

In recent years, the theater has toured many times with an extensive repertoire in Moscow and St. Petersburg, where the capital’s audience highly appreciated the skill of seaside artists. Primorsky Academic Regional Drama Theatre has always been distinguished by a strong cast, the aesthetics of the theater are close to large-scale heroic performances and deep psychological development of characters, they are not afraid to give complex roles to young people.

Foreign tours are an important and permanent part of the life of the theater. In the 90s of the last century, the audience of Japan and Korea got acquainted with the Russian theater. From 1995 to the present day, an interesting cooperation with American colleagues continues.

Theatre troupe has repeatedly traveled to San Diego and the cities of the east coast of the United States, American partners, in turn, staged and played the stage of the seaside theater. In June 2015, the performance “Anna Karenina” took part in the Arts Festival of Northern Norway (Harstad).

Today, the academic theater named after M. Gorky increasingly demonstrates itself as a theater-s spectacle and embod in classic Russian works and spectacles.
