Master classes on Far Eastern cuisine in Vladivostok schools

About the project
During the 2023-2024 academic year, an interesting and unique gastronomic project began to be implemented in Vladivostok schools. Gastronomy is not just about eating, sitting down and eating. It is also an opportunity to learn about traditions and culture, because Primorye is a multinational region.
Project shot! The chefs had the opportunity to communicate with a new audience unusual for them, share experiences, talk about the profession. Unlike regular visitors to restaurants, children are open to dialogue on various topics, and the more interesting communication is. During gastro lessons, schoolchildren change the situation, do something with their own hands not for the sake of evaluation, but for pleasure. Parents of schoolchildren note the manifestation of respect for products, interest in the work of catering and the desire to embody the knowledge gained at home: someone cooks independently at home, and someone is fond of serving. Teachers emphasize the well-established career-oriented orientation of such classes, changes in the behavior of children - everything is done together: from excellent students to tertiary students, from restless to indifferent.
It is very important that when conducting gastro lessons, the age of the children is also taken into account. Second graders prepare simpler meals, such as zavertons. High school students create khinkali with a Far Eastern scallop and rolls, try to sculpt dumplings with pollock.
During each lesson, the students open up from a new side. It turns out that learning to cook is cool, and girls do not necessarily do it (and the chefs who set the tone during these classes are young, fashionable, stylish guys who have already made a name for themselves in gastronomy)
In addition to the “tasty” part of the lessons, the program is saturated with a cultural component: specialists from museums and representatives of the city’s travel companies are invited to gastro lessons, who introduce students to the history of the formation and development of Primorye, with interesting places in the region for travel and recreation. V.K. Arsenyev Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East, tour operator Vostok Intour, VVSU (MIOST), College of Technology and Service and School of Gastronomy take part in such lessons.

In total, from December 2023 to early February 2024, more than 30 gastronomic master classes were held, more than 1.5 thousand schoolchildren took part in them. It's too early to put a point in gastro lessons. Now master classes are held for schoolchildren of the 2024-2025 academic year. The desire to repeat, expand and improve is not just for the organizers. Such lessons are of interest to both schoolchildren and teachers. Moreover, some schools of the Far Eastern capital such master classes are included in the work plan of summer school camps.
Information about gastro lessons in schools of Vladivostok in the nelegram channel Visit Primorye looked at about 70 thousand people. This is further evidence that the project has “shot.” It turned out to be very multifaceted: the transfer of knowledge, heart-to-heart conversations, the secrets of the profession, acquaintance with the Far Eastern cuisine and the possibilities of traveling around the edge. Children's audiences are receptive to information. And we are sure that soon we will receive new travelers, fans of tourism, future representatives of the hospitality industry.
