Russia's southernmost lighthouse

Cape Gamov was opened in 1854 by the crew of the frigate "Pallada" and named after one of the junior officers of the frigate Dmitry Ivanovich Gamov. The cape was a very dangerous place for sailors due to frequent fog and strong winds. In 1897, on stones near the cape, the steamer Vladimir crashed into the fog, going from Posiet to Vladivostok. This tragedy forced to hurry with the construction of the lighthouse.

Gamova Lighthouse opened lighting on July 17, 1906, it is set at an altitude of 49 meters above sea level. It is a white brick 8-sided prismatic tower with a lamp structure 19 meters high, built into a stone one-storey residential building.

The lighthouse along the coast is further from the border with the DPRK than the Nazimov lighthouse, but from the point of view of latitudinal location - this is the southernmost lighthouse of the Far East.
