Sculpture by Dersu Uzala

Dersu Uzala sculpture in Arsenyev is part of a memorial composition dedicated to the researcher of the Ussuri taiga V.K. Arsenyev and his guide and friend Ders Uzala. The complex was opened on September 9, 1972 for the 100th anniversary of Arsenyev: it includes a tall figure of the writer, terraces-steps and a large stone block with a relief image of Dersu - the same "portrait" that is visible behind the site today. In 2022, around the monument, a new species zone was landscaped on the hill of Uvalny, and the place became a convenient point for walking and shooting panoramas of the city.

The sculpture is convenient to make a stop on a walk: here it is quiet, you can hear the river, and on the steps of the amphitheater you can sit and re-read a couple of lines from Dersu Uzala.
