Admiral Fokin Street is the main walking street in the heart of Vladivostok

Not far from the central square of the city is Admiral Fokin Street. In Vladivostok, it is called Arbat. It is relatively short (less than a kilometer) and is only for pedestrians.

This is one of the oldest streets of the city, which used to be called Peking in honor of the Peking Treaty of 1860 (the year of the founding of Vladivostok), which finally delimited Russian and Chinese possessions in the Far East. A century later, the street changed its name, having received the name of the admiral who commanded the Pacific Fleet for many years.

In 2011, a serious reconstruction was carried out on the Arbat: the architectural composition of this part of the city changed. Alleys appeared on both sides of the pedestrian zone, closer to the houses, and fountains were updated in the central part. Between the plantations installed benches and lanterns, made in retro style.

From April to November, street musicians and representatives of various youth movements and groups are active here: at the same time, all are extremely peaceful and friendly.
