Sopka Refrigerator

Sopka Refrigerator - a bird's-eye view of Vladivostok
At the top of the hill Refrigerator, a height of 257 meters, offers a picturesque view of the northern part of the city and the Amur Bay. Here is the fort of Count Muravyov-Amursky, part of the Vladivostok fortress, as well as the Soviet battery No. 198 "Fridge". Sopka is an important historical and military object, which attracts the attention of not only tourists, but also researchers. The refrigerator has an interesting history and several versions of the origin of its name. One of them associates the name with the cold warehouses that were once located at its foot. Another version indicates a cave, where a negative temperature is maintained all year round, which gives the hill its characteristic name
When to go to the Sopka Refrigerator
The best time to go to the Sopka Refrigerator is spring and autumn. At this time, the weather is most comfortable for hiking, and the views of Vladivostok and the Amur Bay are especially beautiful against the background of greenery.
