Vladivostok fortress

> During its existence, the Vladivostok fortress was an advanced and very powerful defensive structure. It played an important role in ensuring the security of the eastern borders of the Russian Empire, and then the Soviet Union. The fortress prevented more than one enemy invasion without making a single shot. Today, it has lost its defensive importance, which it has maintained for about 60 years, and has become part of the cultural and historical heritage of the country.
The Vladivostok fortress today is:
- more than 100 objects that make up the most powerful sea fortification complex in Russia; <150 km. defense lines;

In 2019, in pursuance of the order of the President of the Russian Federation, the museumification of the Vladivostok fortress began, which today is an important and integral part of the Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East named after V.K. Arsenyev.
The main directions of the museum-reserve are educational, research and educational activities. In addition, it ensures the safety of the objects included in its structure.
The mission of the museum-reserve is to study and preserve the heritage of the Vladivostok fortress, as well as to tell about this unique monument of history and architecture.
Visit center of the Vladivostok Fortress branch is located on Peter the Great St., 6. It is part of a historic ensemble in the central part of the city. Within walking distance from the Ship Embankment, Tsesarevich Arch and the Museum of the S-56 Submarine.
Exposition "Vladivostok". The “Fortress Time” opened in September 2019. The exhibition project tells about the unique fortification complex and the people involved in its large-scale construction. To date, the museum-reserve includes about 70 objects of the Vladivostok fortress and more than 200 hectares of protected landscapes.
The objects of the fortress have become venues for urban events: the festival "Children's Days", music festivals "Musical Picnic" and "Vladivostok Fortress", music evenings, festivals of light art "LUMINUM" and "Start" and much more.
