Supper of the Cross

Sopka Krestovaya is a panoramic view of the Golden Horn Bay in Vladivostok
Sopka Krestovaya is one of the most picturesque places in Vladivostok, from where an incredible view of the Golden Horn Bay opens. From a height of 89 meters, you can see not only the bay itself, but also the Vostochny Bosphorus Strait, as well as two cable-stayed bridges - Golden and Russian. Below you can see the berths of the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port, which in combination with the sea spaces create a unique picture of the city.
Despite its small height, the Cross Hill remains a popular holiday destination for both locals and tourists, attracting them with beautiful views and historical atmosphere.
History of the Cross Hill
The Cross Hill, which received its first name in the 1880s as the Crusader, was associated with the history of navigation. The name was changed in honor of the explorer of the Gulf of Peter the Great, Captain Gustav Christophorovich Egerskjöld, who in 1860 stood with the corvette Griden in the Golden Horn Bay.
In Soviet years, a statue of Lenin was planned to be installed on top, which was to become a symbol of the city and meet all ships entering the port of Vladivostok. However, the project was not implemented, and instead of the statue, a metal cross was installed on the top.
When to go to the Cross Hill
The best time to visit the Cross Hill is spring and autumn, when the air temperature is comfortable for walking, and the views are especially picturesque. Autumn brings bright colors to nature, and in spring green shades are combined with the sea and sky, creating ideal conditions for photo shoots. The summer months are also good for hiking, but on hot days climbing the hill will be quite difficult. In winter, the hill turns into a snow fairy tale, but the difficulty of climbing increases due to the ice areas on the trail
